The fate of students of the University of Abuja who gained admission to the university through the back doors is currently hanging in the air as President Goodluck Jonathan on Wednesday ordered the Minister of Education, Ruqayyat Rufai, to expel all unqualified students from the University without wasting much time. Jonathan had given this order while swearing in a new minister, Inuwa Abdulkadir and the chairman and members of the Federal Civil Service Commission at the State House, Abuja. Mr. President had asked the minister to with all urgency set up a committee that will flush out unqualified students of the University. He blamed the current situation on some politicians who have insisted on the admission of unqualified candidates, stating that henceforth, it will not be business as usual. He accused
unidentified politicians of forcing the students on the institution, which was a major reason for the crisis in the institution. The president had also charged civil servants to work with public office holders in order to ensure that effective policies are initiated and implemented for the good of the country. The occasion was also used to swear the new chairman of the Federal Civil Service Commission, Deaconess Joan Ayo, as well as six new federal commissioners. The president had expressed dissatisfaction over the attitudes of most civil services which do not go well with the entire system as there is no amount of competency of a minister or a president that can turn the nation around when the civil servants fail in their own little way.
