IcePrince is Set To Drop 2 New Singles – “More” and ” Aboki” August 28th. Both tracks are produced by Chopstix ABOKI is Ice’s way of celebrating the North, the successes that are largely unnoticed, and correcting the stereotype that comes with the word “Aboki.
MORE, the bonus track, is a subtle mid-tempo song that talks of a turbulent love story. One partner has lost hope in the relationship, the other wills for more in love and support.

Brymo – We All Need Something

2012 hasn’t been a great year so far for Nigeria. We’ve had our fair share of troubled times, and most recently the plane crash that claimed over 160 lives in Lagos. Brymo releases this unofficial single simply as a way of providing some sort of healing in this period. This is an unofficial track, and is free to the fans. The people must come together and Brymo reminds us of that in this acoustic song titled ‘We all need something.‘ It is different from his other popular songs but that goes to show that Brymo cannot be limited, especially now when as a nation, all we need is hope. Listen, enjoy, be encouraged. Download here

Ice Prince performs Oleku (1Xtra Afrobeats session)

I guess Ice Prince is still riding the Oleku wave as he performs the monster hit at the Maida Vale as part of 1Xtra’s Afrobeats special session. BBC Radio 1xtra presents their special Afrobeats week today and to start on a high note, DJ Edu will be bringing the Afrobeats Live Lounge featuring Ice Prince, Skepta, Donaeo, Sneakbo and Lethal B. Definitely still a hot jam, and I’m feeling the afrobeat feel this has. Big ups to those drummers though, skills toh badt!

Ice Prince ft. Gyptian – Magician

We need diversity of sounds from our artists and the music brands they represent/sell, both on a local and international level. Accordingly, you all can only imagine how thrilled I am to see the new direction Chocolate City artist Ice Prince is going with the remix of his song ‘Magician’ ft. Reggae dance hall superstar Gyptian. Talks have been ongoing among industry insiders, for a minute. However, we now have the big reveal with actual proof of collaboration. Ice Prince unveiled, yesterday at the Industry Nite event series, his behind the scenes video clips of the ‘Magician’ remixed upcoming music video shot by Clarence Peters. I am happy for him and the Chocolate City gang. Let’s see how and if Clarence Peters pushes the creative envelope and the direction he takes Ice Prince with selling him to a much broader audience. There is a lot to talk about on collaborating with international music acts . . . For now . . . Finland’s Spinlet, a technology startup with Lagos and San Francisco offices, and new comer to digital distribution targeting Africa’s market, allegedly brokered the connection with Gyptian. As a newcomer proclaiming itself to be Africa’s #1 digital distributor with no track record, yet, of success, and a need to show true industry connections within and outside of Africa, Spinlet needs to put up some real numbers on the board. Gyptian is a potential showing of what they can do . . .but I am not sold, yet. I’ll save further discussions for when I take on Spinlet and IROKOing. Spinlet is digestable. Irokoing, Iroko on YouTube is simply nothing short of perplexing almost annoying and definitely weird on the part of the artists and labels signing agreements with Irokoing/ Iroko for Youtube marketing and blocking of content. Even with money offered by Irokoing/Iroko dealings on YouTube by Iroko, many artists should say, “no thank you” and keep it moving. The music industry is not the film industry, Iroko’s genesis and model, and trying to replicate the same business model used for distributors in the local markets with limited internet access is just like, “Huh?.” In any event, back to Ice Prince. I am happy and proud of the diversity of sound he is creating. I hope he continues to flex his music muscles and we see more solid work from him this year. P.S: Ice Prince, sir, don’t get too “flygerianwesternized” for Nigeria’s fashion industry because then you and I have a problem. Lol! I’m serious though. Cheers, Uduak

Jesse Jagz - "Into you"

Well officially it’s new, but the song has kinda been floating around for close to 6 months or so. The song is really catchy, and classic Jesse Jagz. Word is Jesse Jagz will be dropping his album pretty soon, so we should definitely look out for that.

[Video] M.I - "N'otis" Feat. Pryse

Well IM2 is still not out. I think it was supposed to be released on saturday but the release date got moved again, to the 10th I think. At this point we’ll just have to wait till it drops and not pay attention to the dates anymore. lol.

But we do have something else from IM2. Latest signee Pryse, and MI drop a viral video for one of the tracks on IM2, N’Otis ( a remake to Otis by Jay-Z & Kanye).

Pretty hot stuff. Check it out.

This video kinda serves as a mini introduction of Choc City First Lady: PRYSE. Also starring in the video: Jesse Jagz, Ice Prince, Loose Kaynon, GRIP BOIZ, And “Random Shirtless Guy.”
