Taraba crash: Governor Suntai’s aides flown to National hospital, Abuja

More than 24 hours after the injured Governor of Taraba State,Daantata Suntai was flown out of the country to Germany for proper medical treatment,his three aides who were involved in the plane crash with him were on Sunday night transferred to the National Hospital, Abuja. The Governor’s Aide de Camp (ADC), Dasat Illiya, who had reportedly been lying unconscious with a fractured leg at the specialist hospital in Yola, the Chief Security Officer (CSO) to the governor, Timo Dangana, who sources said has two fractures on both legs, and the Chief Detail to the Governor, Joel Dan, who has a fractured arm have all been taken to the National Hospital in Abuja. DailyPost was informed that colleagues and families of the Governor’s aides were getting worried that the three officers needed more state attention than they were getting before now and hence called on the state government for its intervention. The National Hospital spokesperson, Tayo Haastrup, confirmed that the trio are in the National hospital but said it was difficult to independently confirm the level of injuries sustained by the aides.

Building the Government House with N6bn is not a waste of money – Uduaghan

Angry youths burn down 20 houses over colleague’s death in Rivers State

Some angry youths in Omudioga community, Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State yesterday set over 20 ablaze in protest of the death of a youth, who was simply identified as Benjamin. Sources said the fuming youths speculated that the death of the late Benjamin might have been caused by some members of the community. Fuel Subsidy Fraud: 21 indicted Oil firms to pay N382 billion to FG

Twenty-one oil firms have been indicted by a Presidential Committee on Verification and Reconciliation of Fuel Subsidy payment over alleged fraudulent claims. N25m suit: Baba Suwe gets Court of Appeal accelerated hearing

A Lagos division of the Court of Appeal has granted an accelerated hearing of an appeal filed by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) brought before it challenging the judgement of Justice Yetunde Idowu of the High Court of Lagos ordering the payment of 25 million naira by the agency as compensation to actor, Babatunde Omidina well known as Baba Suwe on March 2, 2012. At yesterday’s hearing, the court ordered the Appellant (NDLEA) to file its reply brief on points of law within 14 days after Court of Appeal had granted an application filed by counsel Barr. Bamidele Aturu, counsel to Baba Suwe, for extension of time within which to file his Respondent brief. The court then adjourned the case to October 18, 2012 for the hearing of the substantive appeal. On October 12, 2012, Baba Suwe was arrested at the Murtala International Airport, Lagos after he was suspected to have some substances believed to be hard drugs. Sapele flood: Residents relocate

Residents of Sapele in Sapele Local Government Area of Delta State, who were trapped in their houses as a result of flood accompanied by the heavy downpour in the last few days, have been relocating to neighbouring villages, for safety. Residents of areas such as, Dure Numa Street, Water Street, Palmer Road, Boyo Road, Adidi Road, Owumi Road, Okpe Road and Mcpherson Road have started relocation. Some of the residents, relocating also attributed their movement to the stench emitting from soaring refuse dumps scattered all over the town.
