Olawale Ojo has emerged winner of the sixth edition of the Project Fame West Africa, a TV reality show single-handedly sponsored by communication giant, MTN. Young Olawale, having emerged winner smiled home with a grand prize of N5m, a brand new car and a recording contract. Ads by safesaver The Benue-born bold and beautiful singer, Immaculate Edache was named first runner-up, winning cash prize of N3m and a brand new car. Margaret emerged 3rd with N2m and a car, Eniola in the fourth position with N2m. Omolayo was fifth with N1m and in the sixth position was Roland with N500, 000. Olawale becomes the sixth winner of the popular TV show, joining past winners, Iyanya, Mike, Chidinma, Monica and AYO.

“If you can’t find me with marijuana, slow down on your assumptions” – Tonto Dikeh

Controversial actress and aspiring musician, Tonto
Dike may have gotten herself into trouble for posting
photos of hemps on the social media, as she may be
forced to answer some questions regarding the
unlawful act.
This is as the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency,
NDLEA, on Friday said it would investigate the act.
Dikeh had on Thursday threw caution to the wind,
posting a photograph of a wrapped weed and another
which showed ‘Happy birthday POKO’ also formed with
weed. She also added an inscription, “Mi smoke ganja,
mi smoke weed, while my hatez smoke ma gossip.”
But NDLEA spokesman, Mitchell Ofoyeju, speaking
with the PUNCH, said the matter had been referred to
the appropriate Department of the Agency and would
be probed.
“Our attention has been drawn to the post quite
frankly and I can tell you that action will be taken on
it. The law is clear and NDLEA has been very clear on
the issue. No one is permitted to sell, use, cultivate
or encourage the use of Indian hemp in Nigeria. The
weed is one of the banned narcotics in the country,
Ofoyeju said.
“NDLEA Act Section 14 (b) states that any person who
conspires with, aids, abets, counsels, attempts to
commit or is an accessory to any act or offence
referred to in this act shall be guilty of an offence
under this act and liable on conviction to be
sentenced to imprisonment for a term not less than
15 years and not exceeding 25 years.
“Investigation has not started as of now, but
definitely, a step has to be taken on the matter.
Ignorance of the law is not an excuse; so, it is obvious
that the actress stands the risk of 15 years jail term.
The appropriate Department is meeting on the issue
for necessary action.”
The controversial diva, who shot to fame through her
roles in Nollywood, is known for her several indecent
acts, as well as love for drugs and alcohol.
The Future Awards in 2012 named her Actress of the
Year.

The nominees for the 2013 Nigeria
Entertainment Awards were announced
yesterday at the nominee announcement
event held in Lagos, Nigeria at Euphoria
nightclub.
Pearl Hart of SoundcityTV and Freeze from
CoolFM radio’s The Road Show hosted the
event, which kicked off at 10pm with the
arrival of guests. Some of the artists in
attendance were Ice Prince, Funny Bone,
Jhybo, K9, DJ Spinall, KCee, Kswitch,
MSmooth to mention a few.
Representing for Nollywood and Gollywood
were Juliet Ibrahim, Ramsey Nouah, and Uti
Nwachukwu. Guests were treated to
performances by Emma Nyra, Eddie Kim,
Jhybo, Ketchup, and MSmooth.
The President of the NEA, Tope Esan
announced the nominees from all thirty-
four categories and some of the nominees
this year include Iyanya’s Kukere and K9’s
Kokoma for Hottest Single of the Year, Rita
Dominic, Genevieve Nnaji and Uche Jombo
for Best Lead Actress, Jesse Jagz, Ice Prince
and Vector for Best Rap Act and for Best
Comedian BasketMouth, Bovi and Senator
were also nominated. The nominee
announcement event is an opportunity for
all nominees to be celebrated in Nigeria
surrounded by their fellow industry peers,
and supporters before the official award
ceremony in New York.
Voting begins online on June 28 th . Fans are
encouraged to support their favorite artists,
actors and actresses, comedians and
entertainers by voting and encouraging
others to vote as well. The 2013 NEA
Awards is scheduled to take place on Sept.
1 in New York City. The organizers are
working on making this year even better
than the last, and will continue to unveil
more details in the coming weeks.

Wale Folarin "The Gifted" 3rd album

The Gifted is the upcoming third studio
album by American rapper Wale. The
album is scheduled to be released on
June 25, 2013 by Maybach Music
Group and Atlantic Records . The
album was supported by the hit single
" Bad" which has peaked at number 25
on the Billboard Hot 100 .
Background
On November 25, 2011, shortly after
the release of Ambition, Wale
announced on Twitter that he had
already begun working on his third
album.In November 2012, during
an interview with MTV Wale explained
he would be taking a new approach
with his third studio album, saying
He also explained that he would be
taking his time on the album, saying
"It’s not coming as quick as like a lot
of other projects. Self Made I could
just hit a beat, but now I’m like
‘Alright, I don’t like the strings. Take
that out. Let’s try this. I don’t like the
percussion so let’s change the snare.’ I
might be doing it myself on some of
the songs on there so it’s a little bit
different." In March 2013, when
speaking of his third studio album
Wale said, "I'm dropping my third solo
album first, then a couple months
after I'll probably drop the Nothing
project. I'm very creative, I'm knee
deep in that joint. It's kind of like a
persona; thing; I design my records
and the sound a certain way for two
different projects. Its going to have
one sound, very, very soulful" and the
first single, "Bad" is a pretty good
indication of the direction I'm going
for this project."
On March 20, 2013, during an
interview with MTV Wale explained why
he is tired of talking about music and
said that he is ready to let his music
speak for itself, saying "I'm not even
gonna do all that other stuff. I'ma talk
with the music. Until my album drop,
until June 25, I'ma talk loud with the
music, I've done everything I could do,
I've said everything I could say. I've
kissed the babies, I've shook the
hands now let's let the music talk
because I ain't about to come here
and tell y'all exactly how I feel no
more. I'ma let it all sing in the
music."The album cover was
released on May 15, 2013. Wale
along with famed Mr. Cartoon
designed the cover.
Release and promotion
On December 24, 2012, Wale released
a mixtape titled Folarin in promotion
of the album. It featured 21 tracks and
guest appearances from Rick Ross , 2
Chainz , Scarface , Nipsey Hussle,
Trinidad James, Hit-Boy , French
Montana, Jhené Aiko and Chrisette
Michele among others. Upon
release the mixtape received generally
positive reviews.
On March 20, 2013, he announced
that the album would be titled The
Gifted and would be released on June
25, 2013. On April 28, 2013, Wale
released the first of a series of vlogs
leading up to the release of the album.
Singles
On February 5, 2013, the first single
titled " Bad" featuring Tiara Thomas
was released as a digital download .
The song was originally released
on December 24, 2012, on Wale's
mixtape Folarin. The music video
was directed by Alexandre Moors and
premiered on March 20, 2013, on 106
& Park ."Bad" has so far peaked at
number 25 on the US Billboard Hot
100 , making it Wale's second top 40
entry after " Lotus Flower Bomb", and
becoming his highest-charting single as
a lead artist. [13] On May 21, 2013,
the second single "LoveHate Thing"
featuring Sam Dew was released.

P-Square’s Paul Okoye abandons second baby mama in London hospital

Just few weeks ago that a woman, Anita
gave birth to a baby boy at Atlanta,
Georgia, USA, for Paul Okoye, one half of
the twin hip hop sensational singers,
Psquare, it has been revealed that another
lady recently gave birth to a bouncing baby
boy in a London hospital for the musician.
DailyPost however gathered that both
mother and child have been abandon by
the singer in the hospital.
According to information gathered from a
reliable source, the 19-year old mother of
the child, Elshama Benson Igbanoi, gave
birth to the boy at the Queen Charlotte and
Chelsea Hospital on Du Cane Road, London
W12 0HS, but it was revealed that Paul has
refused to claim paternal responsibility for
the baby boy.
DailyPost gathered that
Paul is making plans of
travelling down to London
to conduct a DNA test to ascertain
paternity of the baby boy.
However, Elshama’s father, Mr. Benson
Igbanoi stated that his daughter was
faithful to the musician.
The baby mama, Elshama also insisted that
she has never slept with any other man
except Paul, emphasising that she lost her
virginity to Paul Okoye when she was 17
years old.
It was also learnt that the London hospital
where she gave birth has not received any
payments.
“The hospital has been harassing both
Elshama and her mother to pay the hospital
bills of over £5,000 that have been
incurred,” said one source.

Nollywood actor, Aki loses father

These are sad times for Nollywood
diminutive actor, Chinedu Ikedieze,
otherwise known as Aki who lost his father
yesterday to the cold hands of death.
The funny actor made the grieving
announcement through a broadcast
message on the blackberry instant
messaging platform.
“Hello everyone, I just lost
my dad” was his statement
through a broadcast on
Blackberry Messenger.
The cause of his father’s death has not yet
been revealed by the Imo State born actor,
but sources have however revealed that the
late actor’s father died after a brief illness.
Chinedu Ikedieze, MFR is a Nigerian actor.
He is best known for playing alongside his
screen partner, Osita Iheme. Their
breakthrough movie was Aki Na Ukwa.

The progenitor of Yoruba Rap sub-genre of Naija Hip-hop is none
other than Lord of Ajasa but after he disappeared into thin air,
Dagrin stepped into the scene with his energetic rap and literally
took over the street. Until his untimely death, music aficionados
generally considered him to be the next big thing. Today, that next
big thing is Olamide, another Yoruba Rap crooner. ‘Eni Duro’, his
popular hit single, however came out before Dagrin’s death and my
reaction was wowish. I immediately realized some stuffs were
missing in Grin Baba’s lyrics; he hardly ever had any cause to go
surgical on his lyrics. Since Olamide’s lengthy freestyle, that is ‘Eni
Duro’, he has consistently stepped up his flow, dropped two LPs and
refused to get out of your face. Despite his determination which is
apparently paying off now, I believe like Dagrin, Olamide falls short
in the area of lyricism, though concealed by his perfect vocal ability
and swag. At the risk of annoying some of ya’all, let me shed light
on that real quick.
Wordplay and quotables
The impression both Olamide and Dagrin’s lyrics give is that they are
well-thought and thoroughly worked on. You and I know the magic
that did on their respective fan base. Dagrin played with Yoruba and
pidgin words and phrases easily no doubt and people loved it. For
the exact reason Olamide is admired even more today. I realise that
many of us get carried away by how they deliver their rhymes not
minding even if it’s to the detriment of the structure, richness and
stimulating effect of what they dish or dished out as the case may be.
Go through Dagrin’s discography, put sentiments aside and listen up
for quotables—popularly known as punchlines. What you’d definitely
pick out in his songs are lines I refer to as “pseudo-quotables”, stuff
that’ll make you say nice but never “oh shit”, stuff that’ll make you
nod but never pause, rewind and listen even more closely. You
wouldn’t consider something like “Omo naija mi o maga, mi o mugu/
Awon Ibo, won n fi mi sere bi Ugwu” a quotable, would you? What of
“Ashewo dey everywhere/even gay dey fear/say ashewo go collect all
the boys for this year”? That is just as basic as it gets. Olamide is no
different. I’m surprised that despite the level he has attained he
could come up with a rhyme like:
We are not around here but we are here to stay, immigration
Shout out to the whole of my soldiers, we’re taking over, invasion
Or something like: “You said razz like omo mushin Olosha/but now
you say I don fat like Wande Coal osha.” Punchy similes? Hell no.
Study some of his lyrics here and try to disprove me.
Rhyme techniques
One privilege enjoyed by new school musicians who employ Yoruba
lyrics is that most words in the Yoruba Language end in vowels. So
you rhyme easily. Dagrin’s main rhyme technique is basically a
combo of the said privilege and use of the perfect rhyme pattern.
See an example of one of the numerous perfect rhymes used in
‘Make Doe’: “Your flow is so fake like clown/Let me teach you how to
get down/We run this town”. And an illustration of the Yoruba
vowels privilege as seen in:
Te’n ba wo s’ole bus-stop e lo ma ti b’ole
Mi o le fight fun e, mi n kin se Oshiomole/ O le beree mole, or ko ko
mole/Lole, mo sha mope o o le wole.
Seriously, can’t anyone who one, knows nursery rhymes and two,
understands Yoruba pen all that? I mean, the height of lyricism in
any flow is revealed if it’s replete with alliteration, parallelism,
adroit internal rhymes and more of crafty “similar rhymes” (boo/
book) than “perfect rhymes” (book/cook). This ensures that the
messages in their rap are easily retained even when they try to be at
their crafty best. Study Olamide’s lyrics too and you could be
disappointed too by sighting too many perfect rhymes. Don’t be
surprised though, if you stumble on nice similar rhymes like:
Awon omo mi awon omo mi ni London
Awon omo mi l’america awon sturborn
Awon ti won ma twek l’ori you Tube
I know you love me, I love you too
I particularly like: “I can’t shout, oro po ninu iwe kobo/Body no be
firewood, mi o de n se robot”.
Content
Content, in hip-hop, refers to lyrical elements and how the message
(s) they help to convey. I remember how a popular artiste in one
the tributes composed to honour Dagrin made commendatory
references to the late rapper’s lyricism. And how after giving it a
thought, I was like “err…not quite”. You see, the essence of lyricism
is the overall message in a rapper’s flow and more of staying focused
on it than showing off the various lyrical elements he or she
employs in driving it home. But for a few exceptions, Dagrin often
gets too excited with his flows that he veers of the topic he’s
treating as revealed in some of the tracks on his CEO LP. The love I
have for ‘What They Want’ for instance is ruined by his proclivity to
digress. Olamide doesn’t digress as much as Dagrin but often burst
rhymes that seem to be relevant to his message but when carefully
reflected upon are disappointing. If you’ve listened to his two
albums, Olamide appears to be conscious of the end game of every
of his flows but usually punctuate them with stuff that just don’t add
up. Stuff like:
Mo ranti gbat’ orunmi gun bi t’Agani Darego
So many JAMB questions, se ni WAEC or na NECO
Buh me never hold back, eruku makanaki
Moni metal, moni torch, but mi o kin se Zaki
On the surface, there seems to be nothing wrong with the line above
but the success of the likes of Yeezus, Eminem and J-HOVA as
formidable lyricists is hinged on their ability to mask deep messages
beneath fly, nice-sounding yet seemingly mundane lyrics. Both
Dagrin and Olamide are lacking in that department.
The Wrap
“It’s a rap”, an expansion of the exclamation “word!”, is an informal
approval by hip-hop heads that a MC’s flow is flawless. No doubt,
you can’t help but get that feeling every time Olamide drops the mic.
He articulates his flow flawlessly like Dagrin. Also, credit has to be
given to him for using appropriate styles to deliver the messages he
passes across. In the same vein, Dagrin’s strength rests on his
versatility and delivery. Perhaps, the best rap I’ve heard from Naija
yet is ‘Pon Pon Pon’ because the energy on it is unprecedented and
almost supernatural. Olamide’s energy is equally amazing.
Unfortunately, imagine the timelessness their collection of works
would exude if they had serious depth in their lyrics. Dagrin’s ‘Ghetto
Dream’ and Olamide’s ‘Eni Duro’ are wonderful exceptions though. If
both artistes were examined based on the two songs (and a handful
of others), almost every point against their lyricism that I’ve labored
you with so far would be wrong. Alas, you’re a lyricist if only one or
two the songs you blessed with ephemeral contents are exceptions
to what you normally offer. I’m sorry people; our prolific yoruba rap
“legends”, the dead and the living, are the opposite of that.

Dance Hall Artist, Baba Dee To Run For Lagos State House of Assembly In 2015

Dance Hall act, Baba Dee has stated his intentions to get back into
politics after a failed attempt at it 2 years ago in 2011. In statement
to TheNetNG , he stated that he’ll be running for the Lagos State
House of Assembly. He will be running under Action Congress of
Nigeria (AGN) for the Oriade-Amuwo Odofin Constituency2.
His reasons?
“My love for this country has motivated me to prepare myself for an
elected position. I recognise that there is a lot of injustice and
sufferings amongst our people and so it is about time for a change
in the ways in which things are done in this country. In the House I
will be involved in making decisions that will have a positive impact
on the people”

Moses Obi-Adigwe Wins Nigerian Idol

Moses Obi-Adigwe fondly known as Teddy Bear has claimed the
grand prize of 15 million naira and a brand new SUV at the 3rd
edition of Nigerian Idol.
Moses is the first male to win this reality television and has joined
Timi Dakolo (West Africa Idol, 2007), Yeka Onka (Nigerian Idol, 2011)
and Mercy Chinwo (Nigerian Idol, 2012) in becoming musical idols
winners.
Yeka Onka started the last day of the show performing as the ten
other finalists did their performance for the last thing, Mercy who
won the last idol of Nigerian Idol sang, then D’banj, Omawumi,
Afrobeat legend Femi Kuti and others did their performance.
The runner up, Debbie went home with a Kia Rio and one million

Sleeping in a Coffin???
Point of correction, I do not sleep in a
casket, I sleep on my bed, it’s big and
comfy, I only lay in my “casket” when I do
my meditation because it helps me to be
focused, it tells me more about the
imminence of death. My casket is a
reminder. It wakes me up from slumber. It
tells me,” guy, you have got little or no time
left, wake up, be creative and work” Of
course, when I read some of the comments
of my people, I know a good number of us
are ill-informed about quite a number of
things. I think it is more of what the casket
represents that shocks my people and they
start reading meanings into it, depending
on their level of understanding. But one
question is, what if the same wood that was
used to build the casket was used to make
a sofa chair? May be, all the hullabaloo
about me sitting on a chair wouldn’t have
been there in the first place? So when
people vocalize their disapproval of my
message via the image of a casket, I
understand that they do that from a
position of Fear, fear of what the casket
represents- Death. So whatever people fear
they antagonize. But, the fact that I have
reminded myself and even you about death
does not really change a thing. It won’t
draw your death near, and it won’t even
shift it away. All it does is simply a
reminder, to thread carefully.
MY Coffin sensitizes
Only if a kidnapper can buy a casket for
himself today, and begin to lay inside,
constantly reminding himself that death
looms even as he goes about kidnapping
and extorting money from families. It’s
possible to realize at a point that all his
activities will one day end up in a casket,
and there, his flesh will rotten. The same is
applicable to all evil doers. They need to
realize, like in the famous book, “Waiting
for Godot” that the world is bizarre and
empty, as vanity plus vanity will always end
up in vanity. Crime no dey pay jor.
My Coffin preaches:
Take a critical look at my
image inside the coffin, it
speaks volume. I always lay in my casket
with my cap, glasses, shoes on. I’m always
well dressed. Yes, it is always done
intentionally to tell us that your glory
disappears with all the wealth you must
have acquired the very day you go to that
coffin. Your glory-your cap goes with you,
your vision-your glasses goes with you;
your struggle-your shoes goes with you.
The only thing left of you is your history
and your legacy. The crux of the message is
to leave a legacy, so we can live forever,
not in the physical, but in people’s
memories. As for me, I will live forever. You
dey vex???
We are blind because of our fears
Who knows what any of us sees from the
privacy of our own blindness? Make no
mistakes, each of us is blind in a particular
way, just as each of us is sighted uniquely.
Consider how each of us is blinded by what
we fear. If we fear heights, we are blind to
the humility vast perspectives bring. If we
fear Passion, we are blind to the comfort of
Oneness. If we fear change, we are blind to
the abundance of life. If we fear death, we
are blind to the mystery of the unknown.
And since to fear is something thoroughly
human, to be blind is unavoidable. It is
what each of us must struggle to overcome.
To a large degree, I have overcome my fear
of death, all I ask God, is that may my
death not be painful. I’m sure some of you
know how my cousin who was killed by
kidnappers died an agonizing death. You
see, in the course of our lives, we all
stumble and struggle, repeatedly, in and
out of relationship, in and out of the grace
of the hidden wholeness of life, most of us
struggle and stumble with the uncertainty
of tomorrow as Nigerians. I have discovered
that in the course of our lives, and as blind
children, we may never know what we are
called to be until we have learned what we
are called to become by simply overcoming
our fears. In life, death is the most
important reminder of all activities. Abi you
dey vex???
