Unknown gunmen yesterday invaded Jimeta Prison in Damaturu, the state capital of Yobe, killing four prison officials. It was that gathered the hoodlums’ invasion was an attempt to set free some of their members who are imprisoned. Though, men of the dreaded Islamic group (Boko Haram) are yet to claimed the attack. “Daily Post” gathered from the residents of the prison area that the attack lasted for about an hour. It was learnt further that men of the state police command, repelled the attack and beefed up security around the prison. A resident, Akeen Lawal said there was confusion when the gunmen stuck. He added that some people fled the area during the attack. The Police Public Rela-tions Officer, PPRO, ASP Nemuel Yoila, confirmed that there was an attempted jail break. He added that police-men had taken over the security around the prison. Yoila, however, said that no arrest had been made in connection with the two incidents. He added that the roads leading to the two prisons were cordoned off by security agents.
