Major-General Uma didn’t die in Dana crash – Army

Contrary to the initial report by some media houses (not Dailypost) that Maj-Gen Tahir Umar was involved in the Dana Air plane crash on Sunday at the Iju-Ishaga area of Lagos, the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has on Monday debunked the rumour, saying that general is still alive and kicking. Director Defence Information, Col Mohammed Yerima, stated this in a statement he issued to deny media reports that the Army General had died in the crash. The statement said that Umar purchased the ticket for the ill-fated flight but could not make the trip. It said the DHQ joined Umar and his family in thanking God for saving his life. The crash took place in Lagos on June 3 killing all the 153 passengers on board, including the pilots and the cabin crew.It would be recalled that a Dana airplane carrying about 153 passengers and six crew members from Abuja to Lagos crashed into a building at Alagbado in Lagos state on Sunday afternoon.
