Jonathan leaves for Belgium today

Jonathan will again embark on another trip to Brussels on Wednesday (today). The President is expected to leave Abuja today after the weekly meeting of the Federal Executive Council is concluded. The one-day visit to Brussels is to attend the summit of the world customs organization which holds on Tuesday in Brussels, the capital of Belgium. In a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the president on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati, the President would be delivering a keynote address at the Summit of the World Customs Organization in Brussels on Thursday. The president will again use the trip to have a brief with the Nigerian community in Belgium after which he will return to the country. The president will be
accompanied by his wife, Patience; Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Olugbenga Ashiru; Coordinating Minister for the Economy and Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala; Minister of Trade and Investment, Dr. Olusegun Aganga; Senator Dahiru Kuta and Mr. Chinda Ogundu of the House of Representatives. The President has on the other hand sent a congratulatory message to Dr. Mohamed Morsi, the newly elected Egypt’s President at the last run-off election in Egypt. In his goodwill message, Jonathan had described Morsi’s victory as well deserved. He stated that the concluded election marks the beginning of a new era in the history of modern Egypt. Jonathan in the message says, “I write to offer my warmest congratulations on your election as President of the Arab Republic of Egypt. The election in which you triumphed – the culmination of a long process of political transition – marked an important milestone in the history of modern Egypt. “Your success in the keenly contested election is well deserved and is a just reward for your tenacity, courage and vision.”
