28 feared dead, as robbers raid villages in Zamfara

The News agency of Nigeria had reported that some Gunmen suspected to be armed robbers killed over 28 persons including a policeman on Monday in Dangulbi and other villages in the Dansadau Emirate of Zamfara State. Alhaji Lawalli Dangulbi, who was at the scene of the incident but escaped narrowly told reporters at the Gusau Specialist Hospital that there was confusion in the village when the gunmen stormed, confirming that 18 people were killed instantly,. Another source had also revealed that the gunmen did not only shoot at the residents, but also slaughtered them. “They went door-to-door shooting villagers and in some cases slitting their throats with knives,” a police source told AFP on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak publicly. The armed men who stormed that area at mid-night came in a large number. Sources had also revealed that they were over 80. Danguibi, an All Nigeria people’s Party’s stake holder had disclosed that some dead bodies were still left in Biya village,Guru and Sabuwar Kasuwa. The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Sanusi Amiru, confirmed the incident but refused to give further details. It was learnt that the attack might be a reprisal for an earlier ambush on the criminals’ who lost some of its members to the local security in the area.
