Maroon 5′s new album will be their “poppiest” so far. The band enjoyed their first top ten hit in the US for four years with ‘Moves Like Jagger’ last year, and are following it with ‘Overexposed’ on which they have attempted to being together a number of different eras from within pop on one record. Guitarist James Valentine said: “It will be one of our most diverse and poppiest albums yet. “We wanted to make something that sounded contemporary with the elements of a lot of early eras of pop music. This is our most ‘pop’ record ever and we weren’t shy about really going for it.” James added the group wanted to “mix up” their creative process by working with writers from outside the band. He added: “‘Moves Like Jagger’ was the first time we ever worked with an outside writer, so we decided to try it some more on this record. “At this point in our career I think it was a good thing to completely mix up our process and it yielded good results, as well as a more collaborative spirit within the band.” ‘Moves Like Jagger’ was a huge hit for the band – which also includes Adam Levine, Michael Madden, Matt Flynn and PJ Morton – but they were worried the track would flop, because Adam loves it and when the lead singer hates one of their songs, it is usually successful. James added: “In the past we had this barometer, which was that if Adam hated a song, we knew it was going to be successful. Adam added: “I loved ‘Jagger.’ I was really worried it wasn’t going to be big. I liked it a lot.”
