Nigeria foremost Pastor and founder of the Living Faith Christian Church International, David Oyedepo is currently under a legal fire for slapping a female member last year at the altar. This was confirmed by a Lagos based lawyer, Robert Igbinedion, on Friday, stating that he had filed a suit against the man who calls himself the violent one of God, at the Ogun State High Court for allegedly violating the fundamental right of freedom of speech of the young lady by meting all kinds inhuman and degrading treatment on her. Mr. Igbinedion in his suit is requesting for the sum of N2bn damages to be coughed out by the “Shiloh” Pastor for his unbiblical and inhumane act characterized by inequality and total disobedience to the constitution of the land that upholds freedom of speech and fair hearing. “If a wrong is done to the young lady, she is bound to receive justice for that wrong,” affirmed Mr. Igbinedion, . Detail of the suit revealed that the young lady who was only trying to express herself was stopped and given a heavy slap by the same pastor who had called for an illegal alters appearance. The suit reads thus”The respondent (Mr. Oyedepo) made the alter call for witches to come out, he did not make a similar call for other categories of sinners like illicit drug dealers, contract inflators, fraudsters, adulterers, and fornicators in the church,”. It will be recalled that the same Mr. Igbinedion, was the one who represented the victims of another violent and heartless pastor, Reverend King in 2006 at the magistrate court. She has reiterated that if violence in places of worship is not brought to an end through some legal confrontation, wickedness and injustice will continue to gain grounds. He further affirmed that the Bishop has had no right to have called the young lady out as a witch, stating that such action was illegal and completely unconstitutional the and a breach of Section 34 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria . The suit has demanded that the Pastor tenders an open apology to the young lady and to the world in two national dailies and on an international Satellite tv channel. It also requested that an alter call of that nature be organized for drug dealers, corrupt government officials, bribe-giving contractors, and other evil people who patronize the church on a daily bases. It would be recalled that the same incident was published in youtube last December with a lot of people castigating the pastor for such action. On youtube the girl had purportedly said that she was a witch for Jesus. The responding video that followed this was Oyedepo claiming his authority over witches, boasting that if he saw another witch, he would still slap him or her harder and ten times harder than he had done.
