The report of investigation into the management of the Petroleum subsidy regime has generated into serious controversy and heated debate amongst stake-holders in the oil industry as the house and concerned individuals prepare for today’s debate on the outcome of the findings. Speaker Aminu Tambuwal had regarded the threats of impeachment directed against him as an empty one. It was said that the speaker would be impeached for indicting major political and economic players. He has declared his determination to continue with the process without any fear of threat coming from politicians. Meanwhile, Nigerian governors met last night to consider the effect of this indictment on the nation and to re-strategize further on how to reform the oil sector. Relatively, in a way of avoiding further embarrassment, the invitation of the members of the House of Representatives to the Oil Technology Conference, OTC holding in Houston, United States of America has been declined. According to some of the members who spoke to our correspondent, there is enough battle at home at the moment to tackle, hence the need for the decline. Some of the marketers indicted by the Rep. Farouk Lawan led ad-hoc committee had last night referred to the decision of the committee as inappropriate considering that a lot of injustice has been done to them since they were not given the right to fair hearing. They have however vowed to remain resolute in their position against the report of the investigation.
