Easter Monday football kicked off at White Hart Lane, where Tottenham Hotspurs welcomed Norwich City. The North London side had the chance to go ahead of fierce rivals, Arsenal but slumped to a 2-1 loss. Anthony Pilkington fired the visitors ahead after a defensive mix-up but Spurs equalised before half time through Jermaine Defoe. Norwich had a penalty shout turned down but got the winner through Elliott Bennett’s stunner. Newcastle took full advantage of Spurs’ loss and moved level on points with a 2-0 victory over Bolton Wanderers. Hatem Ben Arfa embarked on a sensational run and scored a classy goal. Papiss Demba Cisse added a second as his amazing goalscoring run continued. Chelsea however failed to capitalise as they drew 1-1 away to Fulham. Frank Lampard scored his 150th goal – a landmark for any midfielder in the EPL – with a controversial penalty kick just before half time. Fulham got the just reward ten minutes from time after Clint Dempsey’s header deflected off Cahill. In the other games, Everton spanked Sunderland 4-0 and Aston Villa drew 1-1 with Stoke City at Villa Park.
