When it comes to the autumn-winter season, it is extremely hard (well, harder than for spring-summer) to put out trend reports for Africa from the international fashion weeks. All thanks to the weather barrier
However, while in Amsterdam covering the AW shows, I noticed that many of the Dutch designers didn’t stick to the autumn-winter script of keep warm clothes; massive coats, cashmere sweaters, wooly hats and scarves!!!They opted for a more general (fits all) seasons kind of collection with a few coats, gloves and sweaters here and there. [In all honesty, I wasn't impressed by the fact that the season, AW, didn't carry that much importance in the shows but OH WELL]
So what are the trends for AW’12 according to Amsterdam, well Custo Barcelona?
It’s all about making a statement in an understated way by adding something bold to a subtle outfit Autumn-Winter is a gloomy period so we all need something to hearten it! Be it with your makeup (bright lips or eyes – Go EASY ladies!! We don’t want any drag looks) or maybe add a staple print or bright piece to a neutral outfit. It’s up to you to make the look work for you!!! FOR YOU.(i.e. Don’t copy right off the catwalk or magazines or the streets. Make this trend count for you!)
