“They were hosted in London, they will be hosted in Abuja” – Minister’s aide clears air on Paralympians

Ohimai Godwin Amaize, the Special Assistant to Bolaji Abdulahi, the Minister of Sports, has come on Twitter to debunk the stories, that the athletes that represented Nigeria at the Paralympics were not properly welcomed. An earlier report today, claimed that no one from the Nigeria’s Sports Commission, was on hand to welcome the glorious athletes. “Negativity sells very well in times like these. Be very careful to believe whatever is reported. I know what I’m talking about,” he wrote. “There is no iota of truth in some reports flying around that our Patalympic athletes were not received by Nigerian officials.” “The report is not only false but a careless attempt at falsehood. NSC officials were on hand to receive our Paralympians as they arrived. As a matter of fact, President Goodluck Jonathan, GCFR will host our Paralympians in Abuja this weekend. Ignore the lies flying around.” He also went on to state that the athletes were hosted to a grand reception in London by the Nigerian High Commission, shortly before they returned to Nigeria. And at the grand reception in London, the Gold medalists received $7,000; Silver medalists received $5,000 while Bronze winners received $2,000.
