Stop forcing a sick man on the people of Tabara – Shehu Sani tells Suntai’s associates

A Kaduna based social critic and President of the Civil Rights Congress of Nigeria, Comrade Shehu Sani yesterday told loyalists of Governor Danbaba Suntai of Taraba State to stop forcing a ‘bedridden’ man on the people of the state. Sani also stated that the dissolution of the Taraba executive council by Suntai was nothing but a “scripted handiwork of parasites and cronies profiteering from the plight of Governor Suntai”. Sani, in a statement made available on Friday, said the ongoing political tussle in Taraba state was nothing but a show of shame. He said, “Taraba state is in the grip of power hungry and desperate cult, hell bent on plunging the state into deeper political crisis. Governor Suntai’s alleged letter written to the State House of Assembly through the majority leader makes no sensible meaning.“Mr Suntai did not formally write when he was flown out of the country in October last year, and as such he should make a physical appearance before the State House of Assembly to confirm and validate his return. Mr Suntai cannot take back his seat unless he convenes and presides over the state executive council meeting.” Sani explained further that Suntai deserves all the medical attention needed “to return him to good health but not at the expense of the stipulations of the constitution and the rule of law.” “The desperation to cling onto power by Governor Suntai’s gang stands unreservedly condemned, carting an ailing man from the hospital bed to the seat of power for political gains is inhuman and ungodly,” he added. “Suntai needs health recovery not power recovery. He needs bed rest not power nest,” he added. He however called on the Plateau State Governor, David Jang and his Benue State counterpart, Gabriel Suswam to act responsibly and help in ensuring due process of the law. He said, “Those who claim to be friends of Suntai should not force an ailing man on the people of Taraba. The impasse in Taraba is hatched and sustained by ethnic irredentists, religious bigots and merchants of crisis whose interest and evil designs will be jeopardized by the needed honourable exit of Suntai.”

CELINE DION Who Wants to Urinate In My Water Park??

Wanna wade in the same lazy river where Celine Dion (and her kids) probably peed ... well, if you have $72 MILLION ... fire up your bladder, 'cause her famous water park mansion is up for grabs. You know the house ... it's the one in Jupiter Island, Florida with two awesome water slides, a bridge over a lazy river and badass watergun stations. It's pretty incredible. Now for some stats -- 5.7 acres, 10,000 square feet, 5 bedrooms, 5 baths (an additional 8 bedrooms in the guest house) -- plus, a master closet that any woman (and most men) would KILL for!!! We're talkin' automated racks for clothing AND an automated carousel for all of your stupidly expensive shoes. Plus, if you get sick of the water park (why would you get sick of the water park?) the home is right on the beach ... so you can frolic right to the ocean ... and pee in that, too.

PDM is now a party not a movement – Chairman replies Anenih, others

Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Movement, on Wednesday, says the party is no longer a movement following its registration by the Independent National Electoral Commission as a political party. He was reacting to comments from some founding members of the PDM, including Chairman, Board of Trustees of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), who are insisting that the PDM was formed as a pressure group and will remain so. But Ibrahim in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria said, ”PDM ceases to be a movement as claimed by some politicians.“It has transformed into a political party and the decision to register PDM as a political party was taken by members of the movement. Speaking further, he said “Look at our trajectory from 1994 to date. Our plan has been implemented step by step until the movement is transformed into a political party. “It is time for the members of the movement to watch their languages as we all agreed to break from the past and transform into a political party.” He,however, said that the party still stands with its objective of being a bridge linking the North and South. Ibrahim said although there were deviations from PDM’s principle, the party would regain the original values of the movement. He said the PDM would unify the people and bridge the gap between the rich and the poor.

Suntai’s wife blocks lawmakers from seeing husband; Assembly invites ailing governor

Taraba State House of Assembly has on Tuesday invited ailing Governor, Danbaba Suntai to come and defend his readiness to resume official duties after his arrival to the country. Danbaba flew in from the United States of America on Sunday, ten months after he survived an air mishap. The lawmakers’ invitation is in response to a letter by the governor, informing them of his return and desire to take charge. Attempts by members of the legislature to see him yesterday were futile as security operatives turned them back at the gate of the Government House, Jalingo. The Speaker of the Assembly, Haruna Tsokwa, who briefed newsmen in his office after the Majority Leader, Joseph Albasu, earlier declared that Suntai had taken charge, confirmed that the Deputy Governor, Garba Umar, remains the Acting Governor. He insisted that Umar will continue until the Assembly decides otherwise. “Governor Danbaba Suntai has transmitted a letter to the House, but his Deputy, Alhaji Garba Umar, will continue to act, until this Assembly deliberates on the letter,” he said. “The governor must appear on the floor of the Assembly and speak to us, or some principal officers of the House must go and talk to him in the Government House.” Tsokwa, who also confirmed that Suntai’s wife, Hauwa, blocked them from seeing the Governor, said the legislature was keen to know his true state of health. Suntai was flown to Germany before being transferred to an American hospital for treatment following injuries he sustained in a plane crash on October 25, 2012. However, he has not publicly uttered a word since his return, a situation many see as a proof that he is still not physically and mentally sound. However, Adamawa state governor, Murtala Nyako, was allowed to see Danbaba on Monday at the Government House. Nyako, who reportedly went to see the Governor, thanked God for his life and wished him speedy recovery.

As we reported, Khloe tossed Lamar out of their home last week when he rejected an attempted intervention to deal with his drug addiction issues. It’s Phyno! Check Out the Nigerian Hip Hop Star on the Cover of MyStreetz Magazine’s August 2013 Issue

In the new issue of the Nigerian Hip-Hop-centric monthly, Mystreetz Magazine, the indigenous Igbo rapper, Phyno takes the cover looking fresh in his signature mohawk. The rapper who has gone from minor hits “Multiply” to major hits “Man of The Year” and “Ghost Mode”, has broken some language barriers for Hip-Hop in Nigeria and talks about his ‘grass to grace’ story in the new issue. What do you think about the cover? Here’s what Sesan Adeniji, publisher of Mystreetz Magazine, had to say about their new issue: “About a decade ago, I attended an emergency music meeting with some of the most respectable veterans and spokesmen of the Nigerian music industry. They were concerned about the infiltrated sound called Hip-Hop/ Rap music. At the end of this meeting, these veterans concluded that this genre was never going to stand the test of time and they were right as of that moment, because Rap music had not found elements to connect with the local music lovers all around Nigeria but they were also wrong because the most constant thing in life is change; most importantly, if it driven by a young generation who are as relevant as those of the Arab spring. “As Rap music continued its search for a wide acceptance from the non conformist generation to the pidgin English era, the influence of those that defiled the odds to infuse the Nigerian Northern, Western, Eastern/southern language into the Hip/hop and Rap music genre seem to be the reason why Rap may have succeeded all around the nation. With the success of Olamide, the final victory for Rap music might be the PHYNO THESIS. Has Rap music finally pulled down the walls of language barrier?”

AGN suspends six members over anti-Guild activities

Few days after the impeachment of the National Public Relations Officer of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, AGN, Frank Dallas, the guild, as resolved by its National Executive Council, NEC, has also announced the suspension of six of its erring members over alleged anti guild’s activities. During a recent press parley held at the guild’s secretariat in Surulere, Lagos, the president, Ibinabo Fiberesima, surrounded by members of her executives pronounced names of the affected members to include: Don Pedro Aganbi, Stella Marris, Doris Ambros, Fred Ekata, Saint Mathew and Tunde Talabi. In her words: “The NEC will no longer tolerate any act of indiscipline from members. How can someone lose an election and instead of accepting defeat decided to declare himself winner, thereby parading himself as Chairman of Lagos chapter of the guild. If you are not pleased with the election result, the right thing to do is to petition the NEC to look into it. Till today, the NEC has not received any petition from Don Pedro. And for such act, the guild has resolved to suspend him with effect from today, June 15,” Ibinabo stated, further noting that the other members suspended did not even contest an election but apportioned different offices to themselves. She also disclosed that the former National Secretary of the Guild, Emeka Rollas, is currently being investigated for series of fraudulent acts allegedly committed during his tenure, while the immediate past Lagos chapter chairman, Emeka Rising is also being probed. Immediately after her speech, which was highly applauded, Ibinabo surprised all present by handing over a cheque of five hundred thousand Naira (N500, 000) to the Lagos state chapter of the body, to enable them carry on with their developmental plans for members and stakeholders. According to her, the money was generated through registrations and revalidations of members, prior to the chapter’s recent election. In another development, the newly elected chairman of the Screen Actors Guild, Foluke Daramola announced the readiness of the body to hold the maiden edition of the Screen Actors Award in October, at a yet to be disclosed venue. Pretty and har working Ibinabo reiterated her commitment to reviving and sanitizing the guild. “I inherited a guild bedeviled with numerous challenges. It was all about controversies when I took over. But today, the difference is clear. We have achieved a lot, but the truth is that we are just starting. I’m poised to achieve more. Whatever the challenges, I’m not deterred; it’s forward ever,” she assured.

“Please pray for me” – Funke Akindele confirms her marriage is over

The sayings, “there is no smoke without fire, and rumours do not spread without some iota of truth in them” best capture the ensuing marital melodrama involving star actress, Funke Akindele and estranged husband, Kehinde Oloyede, as the actress, on Friday, July 19 confirmed the crash of their 14 months and 11 days old marriage to her teeming fans . In a press release signed by Akindele’s publicist and elder sister, Ayo Ola-Muhammed, which was made available to DailyPost, the actress’s spokesperson stated thus: “On behalf of our client, star actress, Funke Akindele, we want to formally inform you that after due consultation and consideration, she is now separated from Kehinde Oloyede as his wife.“She hereby urges her fans and all concerned to pray and wish her the best as she moves on in her career. Kindly note that this is the first and only official statement from Funke Akindele on the matter and will be glad if her wish is respected.” Sadly, the news of the couple’s separation was dropped in a terse statement by Oloyede on his personal Facebook profile with the name Kehinde Almaroof-Oloyede, on Monday, July 15, and within few hours, the awful news spread like wildfire, both on print and social media. With this development, Funke has finally joined the league of celebrities with failed marriages, a development that has become synonymous with the entertainment industry. Indeed, they have made their ways into the hearts of millions of people, who dream to be like them. But either at home or abroad, there is one thing none of their fans will pray for —failed marriages and heartbreaks.
