Domestic violence: “If you hit a woman, you’re an animal” – Peter Okoye of P-Square

One half of P-Square, Peter Okoye, has added his voice to advocacy against violence against women. In a couple of tweets posted on his official Twitter page, @PeterPsquare, the 30-year-old condemned the act of wife battery, which is slowly becoming rampant in these parts. “Am really against domestic violence, its sad how some of us ‘MEN’ treat our spouses or partners. Pls, lets respect them, they are human beings not toys. Hitting a woman doesn’t make you a MAN, it makes you an ANIMAL,” the father of one wrote. “If you are used to hitting women, dont even think of being a fan or follow me on twitter.”

Terry G Says Bye Bye To His Famous Dreads

It’s just not the same without the dreads! Then again, everyone is doing away with the dreads these days. Timaya, Waconzy both chopped theirs off, and Basket Mouth remixed his own to a dread mo-hawk thingy. Terry G cutting his own is the most shocking though. The Ginga!!! It’s gone. Ok I’m getting carried away but it’s weird to see him without the dreads. Then again, he didn’t have dreads when he first got into music anyways. Back in the days. Anyways… what do you think?

Omo Baba Olowo! Davido buys N140m house in Lekki [PHOTO]

According to a story on Linda Ikeji’s blog, pop star Davido, has just acquired a property in Lekki Phase 1. The report also has it that the value of the mansion is around N140m – the price the property was on the market for. Although it has not been confirmed if he paid the advertised amount, the Dami Duro crooner, did not waste time with negotiations, as the deal to buy the house, was sealed between yesterday and today. The newly acquired property, is close to where his father also has a house in Lekki.

“Why I chose D’Banj over Don Jazzy” – Ikechukwu

When Don Jazzy and D’Banj split earlier this year, most of their friends chose camps. The producer established Mavin Records with Wande Coal, Dr. SID, D’Prince and Tiwa Savage, while D’Banj took with him Ikechukwu, Special ED and his younger brother K-Switch. Ikechukwu, was an on and off member of the defunct MoHits crew. And a lot of people were surprised that he left with the Kokomaster. But in an exclusive interview with Encomium magazine, the rapper cleared the air on his decision. “I have heard a lot about my relationship with D’banj,” he said. “Some people call me his houseboy, bouncer, and the rest, but let me say this, I have been close to D’banj since day one. The first time I saw him was at Obi Asika’s house, when he was about signing to Storm Records…and if you’re observant, you would have discovered that we have similar features; he’s lepa just like me and we have same swagger. “So we’ve created some kind of bond right from time which I was not opportuned to share with Don Jazzy. I only find people that find me, simple! Those that I am important to are those that are important to me. “I am just chilling with D’banj and now that he’s making a stand abroad, it’s going to be stupid of me not to utilize the situation he already has. So, we are not just friends, we are also doing business.”

Woman gives birth to half-human half-goat in Jigawa State [PHOTO]

A general hospital located in Jahun, Jigawa state became a theatre of absurd and bizarre when a woman who had labored for 9 months gave birth to what looks like a combination of human head and goat legs. The woman whose identity is yet to be revealed had delivered peacefully only to have had a child with human head with no neck, and goat legs handed to her by the doctor. The question on the lips of many people as the time of this report was what would have led to such an incredible child’s birth. Our correspondent on getting information about the incident rushed to the general hospital to speak with the doctors, but none of them was ready to speak to them. Their refusal will definitely be connected to medical ethics of confidentiality. We shall update you as we get more information on this story.

According to the email, a small ravaging beast was initially killed by security personnel at the campus. Few minutes later, a bigger beast that came for revenge was also killed. The sender claimed everyone at Elele campus were very terrified of the horrible beasts. We have sent an email to the school officials in order to confirm the authenticity of the email content. More details will be updated.

“Is it not the height of disrespect and insensitivity?” – M.I reacts to video Rick Ross shot in Lagos

Chocolate City rapper, MI Abaga, has taken to his personal website, to make his opinions known about the Nigerian version of ‘Hold me back’, which Rick Ross shot in some areas of Lagos. MI was evidently not happy, as his write up showed, suggesting that the American rapper did not portray the country in good light. In his opinion, nobody can tell the Nigerian story, more than the inhabitants of the nation. “Does it make you angry? Does it rile you to see your country portrayed as poor and suffering and full of struggle?” he asked rhetorically. “It burns you, does it not? To have some foreigner- who knows nothing of your history and pain, of the stories that flow within your blood- to have this foreigner come in and tell your story? Is it not the height of disrespect and insensitivity? “Does it not chafe against the thick skin you have grown to cover your other wounds? Does it not make you angry? We should wax sanctimonious about national pride being slighted. We should vent our displeasure online. We should occupy something. “Because God forbid the truth ever be told about what things really are. God forbid a stranger reminds us about those things we choose to ignore every day. God forbid we ever face the truth about ourselves. God forbid we do not go on the internet and rail about how our country is being cast in bad light. God forbid we do not talk about how there is a small minority which lives better than portrayed. God forbid we do not ignore truth one more time. God forbid we don’t.”

“He is my friend, we are all making money” – Davido denies ‘beef’ with Wizkid [VIDEO]

Dami Duro crooner, Davido, has come out to state categorically, that he is not at war with Wizkid, as it was reported some days ago. The 19-year-old pop singer, made this clear, in a video interview with AMC Nigeria, when he was asked about his relationship with Banky W’s protegĂ©. “Wizkid is my friend, Wizkid is my n***a, Wizkid is my brother. There’s nothing wrong at all. We are young n****as making money, that’s all,” he responded. With these comments, Davido, who has been immersed in different controversial stories lately, hopes to put out the flames that were being fanned. The rumours especially became widespread, after he allegedly walked out, while Wizkid performed at the Nigerian Entertainment Awards in New York. Watch the full interview:

Dreams Do Come True: OYATO LIVE AT NYFW

Last Saturday was a good day! Plenty of people gathered at Select Space NYC [photographed below] located on 39th street and 8th avenue in New York City’s garment district to witness the unveiling of VINTAGE POP PRINT™ Spring/Summer 2013 Collection. A collection I’ve been working on since the beginning of this year and it felt damn good to finally show what I’ve been holding onto for so long.
The event was definitely one to remember even though I spent half the time in the back getting models dressed and ready. I wasn’t alone though, thank God! I had the help of my team, the OYATO Artistry Team that helped with everything from makeup, hair, styling, bartending, making alterations, serving food, managing the door/crowd/music… and yes the list literally goes on so please believe I was grateful to have them there!
Thanks to our sponsors we kept our guests happy with Cakes by Violet cupcakes and treats then we also had gift bags stuffed with magazines, goodies and exclusive gift cards courtesy of Milani Cosmetics, Anouska Leigh, OVA Boutique and MAYVENPR
The collection was well received from our audience and I couldn’t be any happier. Like Erykah Badu said, “I’m an artist and I’m sensitive about my sh*t!” I never understand that line till that day! I’ve toiled over this line, the inspiration, the concept and look of it to point where I doubted it. But I told myself, “this is my work and as long as I love it, who cares what anybody thinks.”
VINTAGE POP PRINT™ was inspired by the trends that reigned in the 1960’s and 1970’s. My lack of cable television forced me to get familiar with the phenomenon also known as NETFLIX and because I am a sap for old films, I simply indulged in them. Breakfast at Tiffany’s, The Seven Year Itch, Black Girl, Orfeu Negro [The Black Orpheus], Sabrina, Foxy Brown and all past four seasons of Mad Men, I was overwhelmed with images of men [and most especially] women dressed to the nines! You see, the reality of it was that “dressing up” was an everyday thing for them not something they did once in a blue moon. Women took time to dress and clothed themselves in styles that flattered them. VINTAGE POP PRINT™ pays homage to that woman that took pride in her appearance. In true OYATO fashion, I added colors and a print that are striking at a first glance. You’ve got to adore the flash of red, the pop of mustard yellow and the explosion of the damask print all manipulated into designs that ultimately speak volumes. Just call this line a new interpretation of an old trend, the OYATO interpretation. Every day I’m brought closer to my dream of “making it” in the fashion industry as a designer. This event was another accomplishment I’ll add to my list and trust me I’m just getting started. For some, the sky is the limit but for others the sky is only the beginning. Till next time… Deuces!

Rick Ross – Hold Me Back (Nigeria)

Rick Ross aka Rozay was in Nigeria a few weeks ago for a concert and while he was there he shot another video for his track Hold Me Back. He’s all over the streets of Lagos in this and goes really into the backwoods on it. Not exactly thrilled about the one side of Nigeria he shows. There’s more to Nigeria than this, but if he’s going for the streets look then I guess I can understand, but still… Would’ve liked a more diverse outlook on Nigeria. Especially cos he knows better. Anyways, check it out

Prolific TV host Andre Blaze has opened up on why he left popular cable TV channel Nigezie where he worked for four years. ‘Expansion! Before joining Nigezie, Blaze was head of programming at Rhythm FM 93.7, Port Harcourt. Andre Blaze was recently announced as the host of the first ever edition of ‘Nigeria’s Got Talent‘ show. Star actress Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde dragged to court over debt allegations

Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde has engaged the services of popular Lagos lawyer and human rights activist, Festus Keyamo to defend her in a case of breach of contract filed against her company, Redhot Concepts Limited by an up and coming lawyer, Keshi Elvis who holds brief for Megafield Solicitors.

According to the lawyer, trouble started when the latter failed to honour the contractual agreement they entered into in 2010.

He said all entreaties he made to Omotola and

“Lesbians after us” – Nollywood twin sisters, Chidinma and Chidiebere Aneke cry out

Their fast rising feats in the Nigeria motion picture industry, globally known as Nollywood reminds you of the adage that says, ‘hard work pays.’ They may not be mentioned in the same breath with A-list actresses who possess mouth-watering endorsement deals with conglomerates; nonetheless the effervescent and charming Enugu State-born queens of numerous chartbusting movies, Chidinma and Chidiebere Aneke are no pasties. The identical twins warmed their ways into hearts of many movie buffs in 2004, when they embraced the klieg lights. After thrilling movie buffs in hit flicks such as: Crazy Twins, Jealous Friends, Desperate Twins, Lagos Girls, Broken Ambition, Revenge of the Gods, among others, the Business Administration and Mass Communication graduates of Institute of Management and Technology (IMT), Enugu are not resting on their oars. Although, from a polygamous background, the entertainers believe that the sky is their starting point. The Aneke sisters in a recent interview granted to E-Express, opened up on several issues bordering their burgeoning careers especially their desire to walk down the aisle with twin brothers the same day, which is not forth coming, why they cant marry Peter and Paul Okoye of the P Square fame and how lesbians bombard them with text messages. They said: “Our prayer is to marry twin brothers and have our weddings same day. We pray for this every day. Our suitors can pay our bride prices differently, but we want the wedding to hold on the same day. God said ‘my daughter, ask anything you want and it shall be granted.” This form of union referred to as quaternary marriage doesn’t happen too often. Over the years, only few twin sisters across the shore of Nigeria have walked down the aisle with identical twin grooms, why they can’t marry Peter and Paul Okoye of the P Square fame and how lesbians bombard the with love messages. Asked if they would accept marriage proposal from P Sqaure, the Anekes affirmed, “If they come we would’ve to pray over it. We can’t just say yes to them, except if it’s the will of God. Even Jesus Christ told God ‘let your will be done’. With the level we’ve attained in Christianity, we don’t think we can just wake up and say yes to anybody that comes seeking our hands in marriage. “They are good on their side, but we can’t just say yes like that. This is because once we are married, we are married. We would not on any ground go out of our marriages. So that is why we are being careful with who we say ‘yes I do’ to. “Look, money is not everything oh! God will always show you signs to prove to you that so so person is your husband. I want a situation where I will miss my husband whenever he is not around. See my brother; it’s after white wedding and traditional wedding that the real marriage sets in! One has to be very careful when going into marriage, if we marry, we will even buy condoms and give our husbands once they are stepping out! The fact that almost every man cheats is unarguable. Even my late father at his old age was still saying ‘Ada kedu’ (fine girl how far?)(Laughter). But he loved and cared for his children. One woman is hardly enough for any man.” On how they are copping with the menace of lesbianism currently rocking the movie industry, the fast rising duo said: “They (lesbians) have been sending us text messages. They don’t come to us direct. They will call our PA and start passing all kind of messages to us. They have been calling and sending messages.

“I want to be buried at Stamford Bridge” – Nollywood actor, Mr. Ibu

Mr. Ibu earns his living clowning. For over 2 decades, he has remained one of Nigeria’s first-class wits. Slapstick or sitcom, any genre of comedy is right up his path. He is best of the best in an ‘overflowing world of comedians’; a Katt Williams and Lee Evans rolled into one. But unknown to many, Mr. Ibu, whose real name is John Okafor has a burning desire. The Enugu State-born thespian in a recent interview gave what many would tag ‘Soccer Shocker when he said he would not mind to be interred at Stamford Bridge, the home ground of European Champions, Chelsea Football Club. He said: “Yes of course, blue is the colour of my blood. It runs in my blood stream. I will remain a

MI Abaga: 6 Things Vic O Is Doing Better Than Most Upcoming Artistes

He entered our lives without apology last year. Barged right through our speakers and computer screens. A lot of people had a lot to say, but in the midst of the dust and flying fists, I had a revelation, viz: Vic o is either a a very clever genius… or maybe not. Maybe he isn’t. But you can’t deny he’s putting a lot of effort into what he does.

If you’re an upcoming rapper, or singer, or interested in any sort of job that involves entertaining people, here are a few tips you can pick up from the man.

1. Break The Mold: Stereotypes are made to be broken. Of course, it’s easy to go

Phillip Eta: “Bad news” – Did Don Jazzy really need to sub D’Banj’s G.O.O.D Music collabo?

Yesterday, we finally got to listen to a G.O.O.D Music collaboration that featured our very own D’Banj. The Kokomaster featured on the Pusha T’s track, along with 2 Chainz, Common, CyHi Da Prince, D’Banj, Kid Cudi & Raekwon. And as expected, it was a trending topic on social media, especially Twitter. An interesting angle to the whole debate however, was Don Jazzy’s tweets, which were posted around the time the issue was hot on Twitter. “Do something positive with your life today. Stop counting other people’s money for them. Especially when u haven’t achieved half of what they have,” he tweeted in reaction to the acidic comments that trailed the song. In subsequent tweets, he however seemed to take a swipe at his former business partner and friend. “U’ll say Naija aint progressing. How will it progress tho if all u do is wait for bad news that u can join other daft people to laff about?” He then added: “U send ur man to d moon on a mission and he encounters a little setback. Re u to blow his space shuttle off the sky or pray all goes well?
Well, here’s my two naira point of view on those tweets. I honestly feel those messages were what we call ‘subs’ on Twitter, for D’Banj. The Kokomaster has not exactly been on his A-game, since the two split over differences in ideas and concepts. Most of his songs after the MoHits era, have left a lot to be desired, distinctly missing Don Jazzy’s super touch. But D’Banj wanted the international playing field, while Jazzy insisted on home comfort and familiar territories. That is why that line about “sending your man to the moon” sounds more like “I thought you wanted to achieve the impossible?” However, the super producer was quick to dismiss the notion. One of his followers, @Dirawn75 tweeted: “Ds Donjazzy sef dey f**k up… Twee’n bou #Badnews #Setback subin D’Banj. #Immaturity @ itz peak! Don Jazzy replied: “See ur life.” I’m afraid, the only thing I saw, is what I have expressed clearly above. And I, just like (a few) other observers, take sides with @Dirawn75. No, Don Jazzy didn’t need to. I won’t go as far as accusing him of immaturity, but I think it will be better if he focused on building the Mavin brand up to what we know he can do. And very quickly too. Most of the songs on the Solar Plexus album, were half-baked, painful to listen to and belittled the genius that we are convinced he is. It is not as if he has exactly been flying (whether to the moon or not), without D’Banj.

Kardinal Offishall – Repping My City Feat Wizkid

Courtesy of Konvict Music, we have a hot new collabo from Wizkid and Kardinal Offishall. The song which was produced by Burd and Keys, sees the EME artiste strut his stuff nicely on the hook. While Kardinal, brings his game on, like only he can. The collabo represents a big step up to the international scene for Wizzy. And we all await some more of the foreign duets he has already recorded. Listen to ‘Reppin for my city’ here:

“D’Banj can never be replaced” – Tiwa Savage [VIDEO]

First lady of MAVIN Records, Tiwa Savage has revealed the real reason why she joined MAVIN Records. In a recent interview with Factory78, the Kelekele crooner dismissed the insinuation that she was signed on the label to replaced D’Banj. According to her, ” It’s great (to be a part of Mavin Records Team). Don Jazzy is a legend in my opinion. He is incredible and I have always looked up to him. Continuing the talented singer said she has always been closed to Jazzy even when they were in Mo’Hits, so joining him was a natural progression. “I just want to say this: his plan to sign me is not to replace D’Banj… D’Banj can NEVER be replaced. He is an icon, the entertainer. It was just that they wanted a female touch” she concluded. The first lady also talked about her style of music, stage craft amongst other things. She frowned at how Nigerian artists altered their style to fit the foreign market advising them on the need to stay true to themselves. Tiwa is currently working on releasing her long-awaited debut ‘Tiwa O ni Baje‘ slated for this year. Watch the interview:

Driver in Benin sacks boss after winning N1 million in Game Show

Luck shone on Emeka John at the oddest of places – a beer parlour. Emeka is a trailer driver who was spotted drinking bottles of Star lager beer just at the right time and the right place. Unknown to him, Star was giving away instant gift prizes for Star drinkers through a raffle draw. Emeka was given some prizes including a raffle ticket to participate in Star TV Game Show in Lagos. Emeka was flown to Lagos, all expenses paid, from his base in Benin, just to participate in the Game Show. Since Star Game Show is team-based, he was by sheer luck, grouped alongside David Smith and Ugwu Chukwuemeka. At the end of the games, the trio emerged the winning team. Each team member pocketed N1 million for their victory. When he was asked about how he felt winning N1 million, Emeka did not waste time in announcing his resignation. He declared: “My days of working for other people are over. I will use this N1 million to buy my own truck.”

Assassins threaten Nollywood twins, order them to leave Lagos

A report in this week’s National Encomium, has revealed that assassins, have threatened to kill entertainers, Tracy and Treasure Daniel, if they do not move out of Lagos. The story written by Stella Dimoko-Korkus read: According to sources close the Identical twins; ‘Treasure has been hiding. She started receiving threatening calls last year and this time handwritten death threats started arriving her door post asking her to leave town and not contact her twin sister anymore. Treasure didn’t take it serious until she was called and told that one more visit would result in bloodshed, that she should leave town and not return. Treasure has left Lagos and is in hiding. Nobody knows who’s behind the death threats but the people calling her knew of her day-to-day movement; what she eats and when she moved house. They even gave her her new house address before she moved. The Nigerian police have stepped into the case but have not been able to solve or catch the culprit(s). But friends of the actresses believe that the threats are coming from insiders because they are able to tell the identical twins apart.

“They were hosted in London, they will be hosted in Abuja” – Minister’s aide clears air on Paralympians

Ohimai Godwin Amaize, the Special Assistant to Bolaji Abdulahi, the Minister of Sports, has come on Twitter to debunk the stories, that the athletes that represented Nigeria at the Paralympics were not properly welcomed. An earlier report today, claimed that no one from the Nigeria’s Sports Commission, was on hand to welcome the glorious athletes. “Negativity sells very well in times like these. Be very careful to believe whatever is reported. I know what I’m talking about,” he wrote. “There is no iota of truth in some reports flying around that our Patalympic athletes were not received by Nigerian officials.” “The report is not only false but a careless attempt at falsehood. NSC officials were on hand to receive our Paralympians as they arrived. As a matter of fact, President Goodluck Jonathan, GCFR will host our Paralympians in Abuja this weekend. Ignore the lies flying around.” He also went on to state that the athletes were hosted to a grand reception in London by the Nigerian High Commission, shortly before they returned to Nigeria. And at the grand reception in London, the Gold medalists received $7,000; Silver medalists received $5,000 while Bronze winners received $2,000.

“I wanted it to last, but it cannot” – Bishop T.D Jakes’ daughter ends four-year marriage

Sarah Henson, the youngest daughter of well respected mega pastor, Bishop T.D. Jakes, has confirmed via a statement, that she is ending her four-year marriage. Sarah got married to Robert Henson, a former NFL player, when she was just 19. “I have built my ministry and identity around being the best wife and a mother I can be. For quite sometime I have tried to steer through some serious troubles at home. As much as I wanted my marriage to last, it cannot,” her statement announcing the divorce read. “After professional counselling, and prayerful consideration I have decided to end my four-year marriage. There are biblical grounds supporting this decision and I have attempted every other recourse but after multiple infractions over the course of the union, and for my personal safety and that of my children, I have come to this painful decision. “Now that it is made, I would ask for privacy while I navigate through this difficult season in my life so that I may now concentrate on being the best parent for my children possible. Thank you for your prayers.”

There were many respectable and responsible Nigerians at the party,” she said. “I sat at on the table with Gen. How can they write that I was kissing and hugging him in public, when there were respectable people around? Have they forgotten I have a husband? Can’t I attend a party without silly insinuations being cooked up?”

The young pop stars are currently at loggerheads, and NET can exclusively tell you that the vibrant ‘Wizzy’ and ‘Omo baba olowo’ are no longer on speaking terms.
