Meek Mill & Drake – ‘Amen’ (Live In Detroit)

Drizzy brought out Meek Mill during his Detroit stop of the Club Paradise tour to perform the hit ‘Amen’.

We are yet to find Obasanjo’s sucessor – PDP

The ruling Peoples Democratic Party says it is not in a rush to find a replacement for former President Olusegun Obasanjo, who resigned as its Chairman, Board of Trustees. The party made this known on Wednesday through its Secretary of the Board, Dr. Jibril Walid, at the party’s secretariat in Abuja that Obasanjo’s resignation letter was still with the National Chairman of the party, Dr. Bamanga Tukur. According to Walid, Tukur had yet to notify other members of the BoT, adding that it was after that had been done that the board would decide whether to accept it or not. He said, “We even spent one year to get a replacement for the former secretary when he resigned. Now, the members are to meet and elect their chairman. “Obasanjo’s resignation letter is still with the national chairman of the party. He has not informed us about it. When he brings the letter, the BoT will decide on it and when to meet and elect a new chairman. “That meeting will be called very soon. But I must say that we are not in a hurry to do that.”

Charly Boy’s personal statement on gay and illuminati scandals

THE VICIOUS GAY AND ILLUMINATI STORY IS A CALCULATED ATTEMPT TO RUIN ME AND MY BRAND!

1.It is with a heavy heart that I issue this press release regarding the vile rumors published by National Mirror and Daily Independent, and which has now gone viral in over 100,000 websites and blogs in the last one week, to the effect I had confessed to being gay, and to being the head of the dreaded illuminati fraternity in Nigeria. In all my years as a Public Commentator, Human Rights Activist and Entertainer, I have never had to deal with such an insidious report that appears to be directly calculated to portray me in the worst possible light at a time such as this. The two leading newspapers did not just claim to be reporting an opinion; they actually reported these wicked lies as FACTS!
 2. For the avoidance of any doubt, I want to assure Nigerians that I am NOT gay and I am NOT part of any organization called the ‘illuminati’ in any way shape or form. I also categorically state that any reports of my alleged ‘confession’ to any newspaper is a figment of the imagination of my detractors, and a very insidious attempt to destroy my hard-earned reputation, and that of my Charly Boy brand, all in the mad rush of some newspapers, specifically the National Mirror and the Daily Independent, to increase their circulation through spurious and attention grabbing stories.
3. Ordinarily, I would not be alarmed if this attack is coming from faceless people or inconsequential such as the Danfo Express, the newspaper that the Daily Mirror and Daily Independent claimed to have first reported the story. I would probably also not have been so upset if these newspapers were simply voicing their fair opinions of my personal life or business life. That would be all par for the course for my brand and persona, which has been admittedly controversial over the years, due to my relentless pursuit of justice for the people, fight for the rights of musicians and my tireless energy in extending the boundaries of creative entertainment in my legitimate bid to maximize my creative talents. It is however a different thing entirely when otherwise reputable organizations such as the DAILY MIRROR AND THE DAILY INDEPENDENT took it upon themselves to champion A NON-EXISTENT ALLEGED CONFESSION as FACT! These Newspapers have deliberately reported as FACT that I ‘confessed to being a gay and head of illuminati in Nigeria’. These newspapers inexplicably did this without the elementary courtesy of checking this explosive story with me before going to town with their attention grabbing headlines. Yet, the management of these newspapers knew, or ought to have known, that an explosive story of a ‘confession to being gay or head of illuminati’ will certainly lead to incalculable damage, even to a controversial brand such as mine.
4. I am further grieved that having given an opportunity to the two mainstream daily papers that broke this story, DAILY MIRROR AND NATIONAL INDEPENDENT, to publicly retract this story and apologize for their error, through personal texts, emails, and even letters form my attorneys, these newspapers have continued to ignore my plight and distress with their false reporting. Rather than showing genuine remorse in order to convince me that the error was unintentional, THEY HAVE FAILED, REFUSED AND NEGLECTED TO RETRACT THE STORY OR APOLOGISE FOR SAME. Even as of the release of this Press Release, these damaging stories are still very much visible on the online pages of these newspapers. This has further confirmed my suspicions that these newspapers only cared about increasing their circulation rather than reporting the truth, or protecting the reputation of a public figure such as mine.
 5. Ever since these stories broke, with the DAILY MIRROR AND NATIONAL INDEPENDENT leading the way among the daily newspapers, I have been inundated with angry calls by my friends, admirers, business associates and family members who have expressed their disgust, disappointment and shock at the ‘confessions’ they have been reading about in different forums. My businesses have irreparably suffered and my family seriously mortified in the public eye. The general public, who believed these false stories, because it was coming from seemingly reputable organizations, such as National Mirror and National Independent, have also vilified me in hundreds of thousands of posts and comments on different blogs, websites and social networking forums. I have essentially become an object of ridicule worldwide as a result of these wicked lies being reported as FACT. In fact, one of my daughters recently wrote me a heart-breaking letter on how this development has affected her emotionally to the point where she was even ashamed and scared of going out in public!
6.In order to protect my name and my brand from ignominious extinction by the recalcitrant newspapers that started these false lies, DAILY MIRROR AND DAILY INDEPENEDENT, I have therefore given very firm instructions to my attorneys to do everything legally possible to hold the people responsible for this accountable to the fullest extent of the law. Since they have refused to apologize and retract their vicious lies, they will be made to face the full wrath of the law. I have made a career of fighting for the rights of others and I will certainly not be shy in fighting for my own rights in a situation such as this.
7. In conclusion, I sincerely ask for ALL responsible members of the Press to respect my fundamental human right to dignity, by not continuing to perpetuate this falsehood and malicious rumors. I also want to implore those who have innocently repeated these damaging lies on their blogs, websites and social forums to make efforts to remove the same from their publications even as I continue to hold the chief perpetrators, DAILY MIRROR AND NATIONAL INDEPENDENT, primarily accountable for starting this public lynching of my name and reputation. SIGNED: CHARLES OPUTA, A/K/A CHARLY BOY

Hulk to Chelsea is ’90% completed’

Porto forward Hulk’s proposed move to Chelsea is 90 per cent complete, according to The Telegraph. The highly-rated Brazilian has been sought after by the Stamford Bridge outfit for a while, with many expecting the 25-year-old to follow former Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas to Stamford Bridge a year ago. The move did not materialise, however, with Hulk remaining at Porto for a further year. Yet it now seems the Blues have got their man, with a €50 million (£40m) fee reportedly agreed. Hulk enjoyed another successful campaign at Porto last season, scoring 21 goals in 38 games as he helped guide the Portuguese giants to their second successive league title. Porto were thought to be holding out for the £80m release clause in the Brazilian’s contract. However, they appear to have now accepted that is an unrealistic goal and are willing to negotiate. Should the move be completed, Chelsea’s summer spending will already have neared the €100m (£80m) mark having already secured €8m (£6.5m) Marko Marin and with €40m (£32m) Eden Hazard set to sign.

Court dismisses suit filed against Salami’s reinstatement

A Federal High Court, Abuja yesterday dismissed a suit challenging the reinstatement of the suspended President of the Court of Appeal (PCA), Justice Isa Ayo Salami, for lacking in merit. A lawyer, Noah Ajare, sued the National Judicial Council (NJC) and the Judicial Stakeholders Review Committee chaired by former Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) Mohammed Uwais over the recommendation to the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Dahiru Musdapher, to reinstate Justice Salami. He asked the court to restrain the NJC from deliberating on the said recommendation. He also prayed for an order of interim injunction restraining the council and the panel from further holding meetings, discussion and all recommendations for the reinstatement of Justice Salami, pending the hearing of the substantive matter. But, rising from its meeting in Abuja on May 10, the council recommended the reinstatement of Justice Salami to President Goodluck Jonathan. A few days later, Ajare, who claimed that he had no personal

UNILAG to MAU: Soyinka reacts to change of name

The rename of the University of Lagos from Unilag to MAU University has continued to generate more controversy as many Nigerians both home and away continue to speak on the matter. Nigerian most famous literary giant, Prof. Wole Soyinka has in an opinion credited to the Punch newspaper called for a total understanding of the matter by Nigerians and the late MKO Abiola’s family so that the so much noise and protest do not get misconstrued by the family and Nigerians at large. The excerpt below is Soyinka’s opinion on the matter: ”This is one gift horse which, contrary to traditional saying, must be inspected thoroughly in the mouth. Primary from all of us must be a plea to the MKO Abiola family not to misconstrue the protests against the naming of the University of Lagos after their heroic patriarch. Issues must be separated and understood in their appropriate contexts. The family will acknowledge that, among the loudest opposing voices to Jonathan’s gift horse, are those who have clamoured tirelessly that MKO Abiola, the Nigerian nation’s president-elect, be honoured nationally, and in a befitting manner. Next is my confession to considerable

‘Lucky’ husband Will Smith

Will Smith feels “lucky” to be married to Jada Pinkett Smith. The 43-year-old actor believes the key to his successful union with the actress – who he tied the knot with in 1997 – is the fact they always support one another and he particularly admires the way his spouse always remains calm under pressure. He said: “What’s helped us is being supportive, no matter what the situation is. I’m so lucky to have someone like Jada. She’s really an incredible woman, wife and mother. “She is just absolutely hardcore, like she absolutely is unfazed by the weight and the pressures of life. She is so calm and cool and easy in any situation. She can bear anything, and I just love that about her.” Will flew back to Los Angeles from New York almost every weekend while filming ‘Men In Black III’ to be with Jada, the couple’s kids Jaden, 13, and 11-year-old Willow, and Trey, his 19-year-old son from a previous marriage, because he says he and his wife always put their family first. He added to People: “We make the effort to always put the family first. Being there for each other and being present with our kids is the most important thing. I take being a parent very seriously.”

Chris Brown suing Raz B?

Chris Brown has hinted he will sue R ‘N’ B singer Raz B for suggesting he is gay. The 22-year-old performer took to his twitter page to refute claims from the former B2K member in his memoir titled ‘The Boy’s Life’. He tweeted: “Lying about somebody in a book is called defamation of character. Keep feeding people bulls**t and ima end up owning you and that book! RAZ B! God bless… My lawyers are handling it! Lol ima chill!” Chris later deleted the statement as he waits to take legal action after the publishing of several alleged stories. The book says about the ‘One More Time’ singer: “I’ve never had issues with substances; even when I was at my lowest. I always thank God I never had a serious addiction like the Weezy’s [Lil Wayne] and the Breezy’s [Chris Brown]. “What type of man hits a woman? A man that does not honour womanhood or the fragility of it. I also read that most men who beat women have latent homosexual tendencies. So there you go. “They say you never know who knows who. Chris Brown didn’t think about that when he attacked me online. I have a friend that’s very close to Chris’ camp who told me that Chris was involved with an up and coming songwriter Andre Merritt. So when Chris started going in calling people ‘gay’ and ‘fags’ I just dropped Andre Merritt’s name. I knew it was true when he decided to shut up.”

Eldee Signs Eva Alordiah On As Latest Trybe Records 2.0 Artiste

Big news for the music industry as we have confirmed that fierce femcee, Eva Alordiah is now the latest addition to Eldee’s Trybe Records 2.0 squad. This falls in line with a retool of Eldee’s record label as he has done some retooling over the past year with the signing of Sarz, Sheyman, Sojay, K9 and co. Eva has gained a reputation for her heavy lyricism, and one of a kind flow. So much so that when you’re talking female rappers in Nigeria, you have to mention her name. Eva had this to say when we spoke with her earlier today: “This is crazy, cause it kinda feels like God’s plan all along. Eldee and I had a conversation about working together sometime in 2010 and we sorta laughed over it and didn’t quite pan it out. Fast forward to right now, its serious and we doing it. That’s plenty of hardwork, dedication and almost 13 Record label offers after. I’m really happy with my decision. Eldee is such a workaholic, has great visions and is just the kinda Boss I want to have. He looked at me and said “Eva you have done well for yourself as an artist, now Eldee and Trybe can join you to achieve even more!” Did I say no? Of course not! Haha! Yes I have been TRYBErlized and I’m happy! God is great! My fans are super excited, I have had calls, messages and Tweets pouring in all day! I’m Grateful for the love and support.” Congrats to all parties involved and we hope this is a great step in the step in the right direction for all parties.

Kim Kardashian slaps Rihanna ban on Kanye

Kim Kardashian banned Rihanna from Kanye West’s dressing room during his recent London concerts. The reality TV starlet doesn’t want her 34-year-old boyfriend hanging out with other women on his own and with Rihanna’s flirtatious reputation, she wasn’t taking any chances when she wasn’t at The O2 arena for his ‘Watch the Throne’ tour shows with Jay-Z. Kim is believed to have not been a fan of the ‘You Da One’ singer since she was romantically linked to her brother Rob Kardashian several months ago. A source told The Sun newspaper: “Kim doesn’t want women near him unless she is there – even friends. The fact Rihanna was linked to Rob probably didn’t help.” However, it’s not just Rihanna that Kim, 31, is jealous of. She is also said to have ordered him to leave a party in London last week after he spent too much time with other revellers instead of her. A source said: “Kim was all over Kanye at the start, but when he started to mix with other people she had a stern word and took him away from the party. “He followed her orders with minimum fuss. He knows the deal.”

MoHits will never die – Don Jazzy

In an exclusive interview with ThisDay Style, famous beatmaker, Don Jazzy opened up on MoHits, Mavin and the future.
Tell me a bit about yourself; what was your childhood like?
Well, I was born in Umuahia but spent most of my childhood in Lagos after our family moved here. I am the eldest of four kids. I have always loved music and started banging drums and instruments when I was a kid. As I grew older, I started experimenting with different sounds even if they didn’t make sense. What inspired you to go into music? I have always been surrounded by music growing up. My father was in the music business and retains a very special interest in it until today. Music was part and parcel of our everyday life.
Was it an easy take breaking into the Nigerian entertainment industry?
God has been extremely generous to me so thankfully it has not been so bad. But believe me, there were some trials. After we set up, we even considered selling it off when some offers came in. If not that there were some delays, we may have sold for like N1m. Fortunately, it was not to be and God allowed us go from strength to strength.
Contrary to some of your predecessors, it didn’t take you long to create a niche for yourself as the don of the Nigerian entertainment and the beats master. What was the secret behind your success?
God almighty, a lot of hard work, a wonderful team, loads of practice and study of the music game, knowing what the people want, and loving what I do.
The birth of MAVIN signifies a new era for you. How do you feel about it?
I feel gingered and ready to work as always. Nothing stops. We will just keep working. I’m excited because things look beautiful so far for a new company. I am the kind of person who always looks forward to what he does. MAVIN is like a new child for me and I am so excited about it. On the day we launched I could hardly even sleep.
There have been a lot of speculations and wild rumours; could you clear the air as to real reason behind the breakup of the record label?
Most of the things out there have been fabricated. I have not even been giving interviews until after the launch of MAVIN so where the stories came from, I do not know. There was no major problem behind the split. D’banj and I just decided we wanted to branch out and try different things musically and professionally.
The dictionary definition of the MAVIN means someone who is dazzlingly skilled in his field an expert so to say. Was there a particular reason to the choice of this name for your record label?
Were you perchance trying to pass a message to your fans? Yes! You always think hard when creating a company. You think about what beat describes you or the company or how people see you as. So MAVIN meaning genius kind of sounded sexy (Laughing) although people have been complaining that we are forcing them to read the dictionary for the meaning of the MAVIN and even Solar Plexus, the name of the new album. Everybody has his or her own unique skill in life, whatever it is you do, don’t just be amazing at it, be a MAVIN at it.
There’s a fresh addition to the group in person of Tiwa Savage, a clear diversion from the all-male feel of the group. If at all an addition, why a female artist, and why Tiwa Savage?
Even at, I wanted to sign a female artiste but the opportunity never really came up. Tiwa and I have a connection musically. We work well together that’s why she was first choice to get activated.
Do you have any plans to push MAVIN deep into the international market?
And do you intend to go about it? Yes we all definitely want to grow. And we intend to go about it one step at a time. Slow and steady wins the race. We are Nigerians and this is our base but African music is hot in the world right now so we must meet that demand too.
Where did you draw inspirations from during the creation of Solar Plexus?
Well the name itself actually came from my dad. He loves winding us with big grammar. The inspiration for the album itself came from God. I just wanted to make songs that were different from songs out at the moment production wise. Although I played with sounds not common in the Nigerian market now, I am glad it’s working fine meaning we Nigerians are now opening up our ears to alien sounds little by little.
Seeing as the album was created just a little while after the breakup of records, how were you able to concentrate in the midst of all the mayhem?
It wasn’t easy. But I am someone that doesn’t have any trouble and don’t like trouble each other. I have built myself up in a way that not a lot of things bother me. There is nothing you can’t achieve with hard work and prayers. I always just try and let the music do the talking.
Is there any possibility of reconciliation between you and D’banj, not only in terms of the brotherly friendship that existed between you but also to create music?
(Laughs) Who said we quarrelled? There can only be reconciliation when people have quarrelled before. We are good. We even worked together recently on the ‘Oliver Twist‘ remix and performed in New York.
Is Don Jazzy a musician or a producer?
 (Laughs) All of the above.
A last word on the death of Mo’Hits any regrets?
None. No matter how much people call it that, it actually can’t die. The great songs we made as will outlive you and I. Mo’Hits lives on in every one of us.
